Some of the most important reasons of occurrence of this error  are mentioned below-

  • Transactions getting corrupt
  • When the account types have been modified
  • Custom report got damaged
  • Custom report missing from the general ledger account
  • If the account has some balance but actually, there should not be any balance at all
  • When the trail balance of the general ledger is getting corrected for some of the accounts
  • Some of the subsidiary companies are out of balance

Simple Steps for resolving the account out of balance error in Sage 50

Here we are providing multiple methods to fix the account out of balance error in Sage 50-

 Method 1- if the error is caused due to incorrect/corrupt customized report

  • In case you are using a customized balance sheet report or trial balance report, run the standard version of the same
  • If you experience any error while opening the custom version, you will need to   delete  the   customized report
  • Now, you can use the standard report as the base report and recreate it              

Method 2-verification of the chart of accounts/journal synchronization

  • Firstly, execute the journal balance test
  • Navigate to the Help section
  • Now  click on  Support  Utilities
  • Choose integrity  check
  • Hit the  continue  tab
  • Click the  journal  balances  box
  • Click OK  to  proceed
  • Next, execute the G/L balances   test
  • click the Help tab
  • Now click on  Support  Utilities
  • Choose integrity  check
  • Hit the  continue  tab
  • Click the  G/L  balances   box
  • Click OK 
  • Verify if the issue still persists

Method 3- if the error is caused due to corrupt  transactions

  • Click on the tab named Reports & Forms
  • Hit the  General  Ledger  tab
  • Now choose the report termed as General Ledger 
  • Click on Options
  • Change the time frame option to All
  • Click OK 

Method 4-execute data verification

  •  Alter the accounting period to one
  • Choose your preferred accounting period from the list
  • Click OK 
  • Choose file
  • Click on the data verification tab
  • Select the field named Both Tests
  • Click on the Start button
  • A prompt will appear on your screen, asking you to create a data backup
  • Click on Save
  • After the backup gets completed, the data verification test will start automatically
  • After the test is complete, you may click on the button to display the error log
  • If there is no error, click the Close button

Method 5- if the consolidated company is out of balance

  • Click to open any one of the subsidiary companies.
  • Click on the tab named Reports & forms
  • Hit the  General  Ledger  tab
  • Double-click on the General Ledger Trial Balance tab
  • Scroll to the bottom.
  • Verify if the debit is equal to credit
  • If not, run the Chart of Accounts Journal Synchronization test
  • If they match verify the subsidiary companie
  • Repeat the above steps for all the  subsidiary companies
  • Reconsolidate the consolidated company
  • Verify if the issue still persists

Method 6-if  the General Ledger Trial Balance is filtered by Account Segment, GL Account ID or Account Type

  •  Run the standard General Ledger Trial Balance report without applying any  
  • Check if  the  ending debit and credit totals are matching.
